The Most Important Nutrient on a Vegan Keto Eating Plan

Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: or go here: Keto this video, we’re going to talk about the most important nutrient if you are a vegan trying to do the ketogenic diet plan.

One of the challenges of a vegan keto diet is keeping carbs low, keeping protein high, and getting enough nutrients (b12, iron, vitamin A/D, trace minerals).

The main nutrient that those on a vegan ketogenic diet always seem to be deficient in is essential fatty acids.

There are actually two of these fatty acids:

1. Omega 6 Linoleic Acid (This one is pretty easy to get)

2. Omega 3-Alpha-Linoleic Acid (This is the one to be more concerned about)

Omega 3-Alpha-Linoleic acid doesn’t really do you much good unless it converts into healthy fats called EPA and DHA. These two fats are vitally important if you’re a vegan. But, it’s difficult to get this conversion—especially if you’re a vegan.

Best Source of Omega 3 Fatty Acid:

• Walnuts

• Chia Seeds

• Flax Seeds

• Microalgae - **For Vegans

Importance of EPA and DHA:

• Brain Physiology

• Nervous System

• Anti-inflammatory

• Stabilizing Mood

• Preventing Depression, Anxiety

• Maintaining Cognitive Function

Microalgae is essential if you’re on a vegan keto eating plan. Be sure the version you take is vegan and make sure it has both EPA and DHA.
